The City previously utilized an MS Access database to store capital improvement project (CIP) information. To be more functional and to accomodate access by multiple web users the model needed to be moved into a multiuser SQL Server database. The model also needed to be expanded and modified in order to accommodate additional content.
GeoNorth completed the migrating a legacy Capital Improvement Project (CIP) MS Access application to a the web to accommodate improved multi-user access. During this process GeoNorth ported the Access database into SQL Server 2005. The new CIP application was developed using the EXT JavaScript library controls to improve data entry, validation, query, display of data and content filtering for display on the City’s website. The application features:GeoNorth also developed a series of web based reports which include a CIP Summary report, project expenditures and revenue report, project management report, and a multi-year budget report for all projects.
The new web based CIP Application has enabled staff to be more coordinated during the budget planning process saving time and reducing confusion. GeoNorth will be expanding the CIP application to accommodate project management needs on approved projects.
