Strathcona County, Alberta, Canada  -  Strathcona County’s Economic Development and Tourism (EDT) department facilitates the location of businesses within the County by providing an inventory of County business properties that are available for rent or purchase.  The access point for this information used to be the County’s existing Property Locator application; a dynamic, interactive web-based mapping application that provides a quick and easy method to locate commercial or industrial property or rental space in Strathcona County.  Due to reliability and sustainability issues of the application, ArcGIS incompatibilities, and Windows 7 incompatibilities, the application needed to be replaced with an upgraded Property Locator application that met:

1. new functional requirements such as mapping and reporting
2. non-functional requirements such as enhanced system administration/security, a communications interface, system server compliance updates, reliability (real time access to available data), and expansion and customization so the system can be more extensible and adaptable
3. additional data requirements
4. training, support, and documentation requirements 

GeoNorth performed the following tasks using our standalone web-based mapping solution, MapOptix, to give Strathcona County a newly reconfigured and functional instance of the Property Locator and to meet EDT’s business needs:

• Performed an upgrade to the newest version of MapOptix and configured
• Created profiles for internal and external users
• Created queries, results definitions, and print templates for maps and data
• Added additional and enhanced search functionality
• Created results definitions
• Stripped down the user interface to the basic functionality necessary for the Property Locator and incorporated web mapping in the interface
• Created custom actions to link to POSSE and other external data
• Created print templates for maps and data
• Enhanced pdf functionality
• Created custom Help file
• Assisted with ArcGIS Server configuration and performance improvements enabling compatibility with ArcGIS 9.3.1 and ArcGIS 10
• Enabled Windows 7 compliance
