Originally a proprietary language, the ColdFusion Markup Language (CFML) is now governed by a vendor-neutral CFML Advisory Committee. Having grown far beyond a single vendor, proprietary language, CFML is currently supported by at least five other application servers, with both commercial and open source alternatives. Although typically run on top of a Java server, a solution is available to efficiently run CFML applications on a .NET server and integrate with other .NET solutions.
